FUTURES Welcomes New Teachers

FUTURES Foundation for Volusia County Schools welcomed 180 teachers to the district on August 7th, 2013 at their "Annual New Teacher Breakfast" held at Atlantic High School.  The enthusiastic new educators were welcomed by FUTURES President Sam Willett.  The event was sponsored by:

The Bus Brigade made its rounds on August 13th announcing the Elementary Principal of the Year, Secondary Principal of the Year and Superintendent's Outstanding Achievement Award recipients.

Congratulations to Joseph Ronca of Pathways Elementary School as the Elementary Principal of the Year, Dennis Neal of University High School as Secondary Principal of the Year, and Superintendent's Outstanding Achievement Award winner Cecilia Rivera of Starke Elementary School.

Congratulations to Ms. Grecia Delgado, Ms. Kahiya Fairclugh and Ms. Jasmine Naamou who are the recipients of a $1,000 scholarship from FUTURES! 

 

FUTURES Tomorrow's Leaders is a student leadership training program which offers an exciting opportunity to learn more about the community.  In this program, students meet community leaders and student leaders from other schools who share concerns, hopes and dreams for Volusia County. 

 

The application period for 2013-2014 will begin on August 26th.  


Mini-Grant Program



 

FUTURES Foundation for Volusia County Schools is pleased to announce its 2013-2014 Mini-Grant program.  This year we have a budget of $63,000 for teacher grants.

 

FUTURES Foundation is seeking applications for the funding of projects which demonstrate innovative and effective ways to meet students' needs and increase motivation to learn. Grant requests of up to $1,000 may be submitted for projects.

 

Grant applications are now available on the FUTURES website.

Take Stock in Children

Take Stock in Children encourages all Florida high schools to register their school online for the opportunity to win a $100,000 grant through the Celebrate My Drive (CMD) 2013. This campaign brings together communities throughout the state to celebrate 2013's class of new drivers.  State Farm promotes teen driver safety through positive driving messages and by hosting events during National Teen Driver safety Week, October 18-26, 2013.
