Established in 1985 to increase business and community involvement in public schools and to provide programs and activities beyond the financial capabilities of the school district, the nonprofit foundation is the only organization that provides assistance to all public schools in Volusia County.

Developed by the FUTURES Foundation, Tomorrow's Leaders is a leadership training program designed for high school juniors.
Through a series of structured activities and events, Tomorrow's Leaders participants get to meet and interact with community leaders who share their thoughts, concerns and hopes about current issues, community resources and various factors impacting the future of Volusia County.
Tomorrow's Leaders prepares students for constructive leadership, responsible citizenship and active participation in the affairs of Volusia County and beyond.
The application period for 2014-2015 will begin on August 25th.

New Teacher Breakfast
FUTURES Foundation for Volusia County Schools welcomed 419 teachers to the district on August 5th at their "Annual New Teacher Breakfast" held at University High School. The enthusiastic new educators were welcomed by FUTURES staff and Board President-Elect Brad Giles.

The Bus Brigade made its rounds on August 12th announcing the 2014 Elementary Principal of the Year, Secondary Principal of the Year and Superintendent's Outstanding Achievement Recognition Award recipients.
Congratulations to our Elementary Principal of the Year Dr. Janet Garzia of Sugar Mill Elementary School in Port Orange and Secondary Principal of the Year Mr. John Atkinson of Pine Ridge High School in Deltona. The Superintendent's Outstanding Achievement Recognition Recipient was Mr. Troy Bradley of Southwestern Middle School in DeLand.

Mini-Grant Program Find It Fund It
FUTURES Foundation for Volusia County Schools is pleased to announce its 2014-15 Mini-Grant Program is moving to an online application process. FUTURES Foundation will be accepting applications for the funding of projects which demonstrate innovative and effective ways to meet students' needs and increase motivation to learn at www.FindItFundItFlorida.com/Volusia/.
Grants of up to $1,000 may be submitted for projects and applications are limited to no more than two (2) per teacher. However, there is no limit of applications per school.
Deadline for submission is 6 p.m. Tuesday, September 16th, 2014.
