Educators Working Together

If you are a District employee consider payroll deduction!  Every gift through payroll deduction helps FUTURES to reach its goals in the areas of mini-grants and other areas of classroom support.  You can even make a one-time donation (directly to FUTURES).  A gift of $1, $2, or $5 per pay truly makes a difference when you consider the size of our workforce.  Everyone who signs up receives a coupon for a Chick-fil-A sandwich.  Those donating $25 or more in total will receive a special gift at the end of the school year.  Don't be left out!  For more information, call 255-6475, extension 50730 or 50723, and a form will be provided to you.  You may also email kpfergus@volusia.k12.fl.us or bshamilt@volusia.k12.fl.us.

Did you know that by supporting the Take Stock in Children Scholarship program, you do more than just provide college tuition.  The students are paired with an adult mentor who helps them navigate school grades 9-12 and even into college.  This is one of the best stay in school programs available.

Contact Sheila Rees at (386) 255-6475 ext. 50724 or email: srees@volusia.k12.fl.us for additional information.

Take Stock in Children

TSIC Mentor Tony Tussing was named "Take Stock in Children Mentor of the Year."  James Carter, his mentee states, "In my two years of being a part of Take Stock in Children I have learned many things particularly from my mentor Mr. Tony Tussing.  Mr. Tussing and I meet once a week and every time we speak he gives me a better insight on not only school but life as well.  He has taught me how to be patient and to always go that extra step to reach my goal of getting a college education.  I have learned more from him in the past two years than I have from anyone else in my life.  I am grateful to have such a prestigious mentor and look forward to these last two years of him mentoring me through my high school graduation."  Congratulations!
