Teacher of the Year 2012
Dear FUTURES Supporter,

DAYTONA Beach – Christy Disinger, a 7th and 8th grade civics and American history teacher from DeLand Middle School, is Volusia County Schools' Teacher of the Year for 2012.

The announcement was made on February 4th at the Teacher of the Year banquet presented by Bright House Networks, and co-hosted by FUTURES Foundation and the Daytona Regional Chamber of Commerce. The celebration was attended by over 900 friends of public education.

"Recognizing that teachers are special people … and deserve validation, affirmation and celebration … is of outmost importance to us at the FUTURES Foundation," said Rosaria Upchurch, FUTURES President. "We realize that teachers work hard, persevere, do more with less and continue to execute their mission with love, grace, resolve and excellence."

Major sponsors of the Teacher of the Year banquet included Bright House Networks, Volusia Teachers Organization, Bank of America, Halifax Health, Diamond Suzuki, Consolidated Tomoka, State Representative Fred Costello, University of Central Florida, Florida Power & Light, USTA Florida, Daytona International Speedway, Daytona State College Foundation, Nova Southeastern University and Lamar Advertising.

More than 100 businesses and organizations in Volusia County also contributed donations of goods and services to Volusia's Teacher of the Year program.
